In this months Good Old Boat they review a Hunter 260. Bob Mazza compares that boat two two others, including the C-250. Interesting observations and comparisons. Regardless of boat being reviewed I find Bob's comparisons interesting. A brief but good read!

Thanks Peter for mention the article publicized in the latest "Good Old Boat" magazine

During our search for a trailer-able 25 ft replacement we included the Hunter 260 but a couple of, to us significant observations, placed the boat in second place to the Catalina's C250

1) The centerboard trunk up-haul system when sailing will admit (salt), water
2) The V berth is not to be used as an extra berth
3) Fractional rig without back-stay and back-angled spreaders
4) Like the MC Gregor the Hunter 260 appears lighter and springier, but that is only our impression

However, we were impressed with cabin's roominess, extra beam, headroom, appearance, storage and overall lay-out.
We did like the placement of two rudders on some models. (wheel-steering)
It is a very nice and capable alternative to Catalina
One of our buddies with his two daughters, ages 10 and 13, circumnavigated Vancouver Island successfully in a later model Hunter 260

If anyone is looking for a Hunter 260 trailer I have one for sale. It’s never been in the water.
