iPhone cameras create jpg files with some unconventional stuff that prevents some Windows image editors from being able to save an edited (e.g. rotated) version. (...makes me crazier than I already am.) They seem to be the ones that are improperly rotated when they're downloaded to some non-apple environment. Be sure to test with some iPhone pix.

Wow...have an issue and bam! It get fixed. Here I thought it was me.
Paul, can you add me as a tester? I'm still on the road and only working off my iPhone (and still a little tech dumb) so it would be a good test. Will send an email from tcurran32766 at gmail.
Paul, I can test in Linux (Ubuntu), Mac (Lion), Windows (XP & 7), IOS, & Android (and WinPhone 7 if you make me) using FF, Chrome, Safari, IE, Opera, FF for Android, Chrome for Android (if I get my other tablet back, my current one's hardware & OS (Gingerbread) won't support Chrome, but Opera rocks for it), Chrome for IOS, etc.
Obviously some of these are already covered by other folks, so I can test the outliers if that's helpful.
Tom, the 'thumbnail' pic does rotate, however, when you are looking at the list of your images in 'Manage My Images' the page is deliberately not updated during the Image rotate process. However, if you click on 'Start Search' after completing the Image rotation process, then the thumbnail will display correctly.

At least it should

Paul, just got a chane to check, you're right, it flipped. Here's another on from that day I rotated.
Was at Portsmouth UK today, still only in the forties, but plenty of sailboats on the water. I admit, I'm a wimp, that's still too cold!!
Having had no negative reports accept that the thumbnail images are not shown in the new orientation until the list is refreshed, it looks like we're good to go.
The image rotation will go live once the 'how to' is complete.
