Congrats Tomas! I always thought you had the nicest Cat25, esp with the swim extension. So is this then LOW ANXIETY? The kids wanted to name our boat "catalina wine mixer" or "boats and hoes" in refernece to the movie step brothers. Enjoy the new boat!
I have sailed it only once in a breeze. Pretty stable but I cannot say much about the characteristics now. I still wear the purple glasses
When I get more experience with her, I'll try to sum it up. It's heavy family cruiser so I don't expect any ultra-carbon performance, but in the first possible club's race, I will test her hard
Main goal is to be on water sailing and exploring new territories with my family.
I love your old and new boats and really enjoy your blog. Keep writing and I'll keep reading. I'm guessing that you new car is a diesel. A lot of interesting cars don't come to the U.S. market. Licensing in the U.S. Is a joke. I need an endorsement for a motorcycle, but I can tow anything up to about 13 meters and no weight restriction with a basic license. A pickup truck with a 10 meter boat or trailer swaying behind it at at 120 KPH is illegal but not an uncommon sight on our freeways. The license test consists of 20 question about basic laws and recognizing signs. The road test is driving a few blocks without breaking the law and the maneuvering 10 meters in forward and reverse without hitting a pylon. Best wishes for Christmas and the new year
Hehe... your driver license rules are funny. But to be honest, getting my "extention" was not that hard. The only fear thing is, that if I will fail in the writing test 2 times in a row, I would loose my current one and will have to take the driving lessons again
Anyway guys, tramtadadaa! The boat is finally delivered and on our trailer. Check the blog for more pictures. I'm so happy. As someone said, yours two best days are when buying a boat and then when you are selling it. This is so true
Now.. the winter seems so long... especially in US these days I believe.
Wow and congratulations! That's a great looking boat! Now you have the agonizing wait until sailing weather arrives, which is even worse with a new boat!
Oh thanks, but this forum gave me the most of "how to do it properly" manuals I have one rule: If you have to do something, do it right and avoid short cuts. The downside of this rule is that I spend too much time planning and "Googling".
We have now a problem with some gelcoat cracks on inner fiberglass liner caused by a wrong placement of the boat on my trailer. The dealer screwed it up. Factory fixed the gelcoat, dealer put the boat on the modified trailer again and the crack is back again So he has to repair it one more time and the boat is still on hard. Oh dear.
If the crack reappeared in exactly the same place, I'd suspect a crack in the laminate, not just the gelcoat. That suggests a possible structural weakness, which is not totally unexpected in a new boat design. The liner sometimes is part of the structural grid, intended to stiffen the hull and/or deck. I'd make sure the crack isn't deeper than just the gelcoat.
