Now that it is winter and sailing season is over (for me), I finally had time to learn how to use iMovie,,,which I used to create a slide show of my trip on the Molly Jim. We plied the waters of the Salish Sea and anchored among the San Juan Islands for a week.
We saw a lot of beauty and did some great sailing. I tried to capture that in the movie...Lots of beautiful pics and some fun sailing videos...
Very nice! I moved my boat from Sidney, BC to Anacortes on June 4, 2014 following the ferry route through the Wasp Passage. Beautiful scenery but a little chilly! 'The long drive north'? Oh yeah. I-5 from Sacramento to Anacortes, the sights look very familiar. Most of that drive has nice scenery also but a long drive. Made that trip twice last year, first time stopped in Eugene, OR overnight, next trip drove straight through from Mount Vernon, WA to Sacramento-16 hours.
Wow! Thanks for all of the kind comments - and for taking the time to enjoy it!
A few replies:
Davy J: LOL! We were never in shorts, for sure. But I have to say, those aren't winter clothes! That is what spring looks like in these parts. Summer isn't until after July 4th. ;)
Redeye: We made room for 2 guitars - and played them most every evening. Plenty of room without the ladies aboard ;)
The whale sighting was amazing for sure! We sailed right up on the pod without knowing they were there. Suddenly, one breached 50 yards off the bow. Nearly wet ourselves!
csmcg: Please go! The trip was actually very easy and rewarding. I am even considering single-handing it this coming summer.
Thomas: I will check into the extension length next time I am near the boat. Between the extension and the WK, I can put that baby anywhere...which is good for my high-mountain lakes in Central Oregon.
Jan: Wish I had included music credits in the outro. Duh! Here they are in order:
1) Caledonia by The Ghourds 2) Mezio Capezio the Dancing Dog by Rich Niebaum 3) Dos Gringos by String Helix 4) Truckin' by The Grateful Dead 5) The Lighthouse's Tale by Nickel Creek 6) Echinacea and the Golden Seal by Taarka (I am the drummer on this recording!) 7) Sail Away by the Moon Mountain Ramblers (I am also in this band, tho this cut has no percussion on it.)
ct95949: I actually live in Bend, OR. The drive to Bellingham was about 9 hours with the boat. A gorgeous drive along the Cascades, "over" Mt Hood, along the Columbia...
Thanks again everybody! I will be sure to go next summer just so I can make a movie again LOL!
