Does anyone here have any experience with a tiller autopilot on the C25? I am looking at either the Simrad TP10 or the Raymarine ST1000 for single-handing and would appreciate any advice/insight. I am particularly concerned about the length of travel, or arc of the tiller vs the autopilot.
I went with the Simrad TP-22 on my C25. Never had any issues with the length of travel. The connection point is not at the end of the tiller, but about 1/3 from the front end. Unless you are in some large ocean swells the pilot will only move a few inches in either direction.

I sailed with somebody with an ST-1000 on his C-25, and it worked great. Lots of folks here have reported that tiller pilots have changed their lives for single-handing--you can probably find them with the Search function above.

I have a Simrad TP22 and it holds a heading quite well, however, the auto tack is not quick enough to complete the tack without help. I normally wait until the travel reaches it total extension then un clip it from the tiller and when the boat heading has changes sufficiently re-clip it. There are more photos in the photo gallery.
If I might inject some things I learned about the simrad/raymarine lines. The Raymarine ST1000+ has the ability to interface with a chartplotter. The Simrad TP10 does not have the ability to interface with a chartplotter. The Simrad TP22 does have the ability to interface with a chartplotter.
The Raymarine products interface via Seatalk, the Simrad products (the TP22 and higher) use both SIMNET (a compatible NMEA 2000 interface) and also have connections for NMEA 0183 (for older chartplotters).
I had 2 ST1000+ tiller pilots... from my own abuse (dropping the TP off the tiller and letting it rotate away consistently)... I managed to break the fluxgate compass holder... I was able to get a replacement from Raymarine, through Ebay, for $96. I did the repair myself.
I NOW have the TP22, which I purchased because I went to all Simrad electronics. I like the Simnet connectors (small but still NMEA compatible)... So far I like the TP22, but it's probably way overkill for the S2 7.9. I'm OK with some overkill though, and I'd highly recommend the TP22 over the TP10, or the ST1000+. It is more fair to compare the ST2000+ to the TP22 though. I'd say that the TP22 reacts faster, and is quieter than the ST1000+, but again, these are different sized TPs.
Hope I contributed at least a little more info to help your decision.
