I'm looking to buy a mainsail cover for my new Ullman sail , Has anyone purchased Catalina Directs cover? Or any suggestions ? Doesn't seem to be a lot of choices online . And my options are limited locally .

Angus, I'm in the same situation as you. My sail cover is made of Sunbrella fabric of the color "toast" or a warm beige. The sail covers available on CD are all blue. I checked and the cost of my color is approx $60 more than the stock color.
I can get one that's custom made but the cost of that would be a little more expensive than the CD version.
My cover is just faded, but not torn or damaged so I may be able to get a Sunbrella cleaner and conditioner that may be able to somewhat restore the color. I'll give that a try and let you know.

Sounds good , My old cover appears to be homemade and is pretty well done, plus I don't think it will fit the new sail , it's fairly small . Blue is my color so I'm good there .

I went thru same decision making about 10 years ago when I replaced my ratty looking mainsail cover. A guy on this Forum had a Catalina Direct Mainsail Cover on his boat and so he told me where his boat was located (at a nearby marina), so I could take a look. It seemed to fit very well. I am not sure if they have changed the design since way back then but I bought mine from Catalina Direct about 10 years ago and it is fine. It is made of Blue Pacific Sunbrella material and except for one or two 1/8" holes from something that poked it, it has maintained it's color, snaps are fine, all these years.

I had a mainsail cover made for my Cal 25 by Sailor's Tailor, and it's beautifully made and fits perfectly. I just checked their website and they're offering a C25 mainsail cover for $182.00. Here's a link. http://www.sailorstailor.com/products.asp?cat=33

I also have a Sailor’s Tailor along with several other products they’ve made over the years and have been pleased with everything. Incidentally, if you have the name embroidered, the listed price is for one side only.

I decided against having the boat's name embroidered on the sail cover. I thought it would look nice for the first years, but would probably "age" faster than the rest of the cover. I opted for twist lock fasteners instead of snap fasteners, because they make it easier to put on and take off the sail cover. The boat's name (Fahrvergnugen) is on each quarter, and that's enough.

Correction to my earlier posting - I too have the twist fasteners , not snaps. The twist fasteners are the way to go.

AFAIK, they'll make them any color. Mine is black, to go with my Cal's black hull with white non skid and yellow stripes.

Also check National Sail Supply. They sell Catalina sail covers -- may have the color option you want and they are competitive.

I got mine (now Bruce's "Toast") from CD. They show Sunbrella colors, including Toast, for about $63 more than the standard blue. I felt mine was very well made, with twist closures. From what Bruce says, it has apparently done well over some 15 years.

It’s good to know there are several options. My first step is to wash my current cover then apply some 3M Sunbrella restorer. If that doesn’t work I’ll probably check out Sailors Tailor. or Peters suggestion.
