I'd like to hear from anyone who has bought a new trailer for a Catalina 25 swing or wing keel within the last 4 or 5 years. It looks like I am not going to be able to sell my old boat by itself and keep the trailer for the new boat, so I will probably end up having to order a new trailer built. I'd like to know the following: 1. Manufacturs company name and location 2. Trailer capacity = 7500# or 10,000#? 3. Hull support system = bunks or roller assemblies? 4. Frame = aluminum or steel? 5. If steel, is is painted or galvanized? 6. Disc or drum brakes? 7. Price?
I have been quoted $8000 from Trail-Rite and $8800 from DHM for a 10,000# galvanized roller trailer, and that's out of the question. I keep seeing ads from trailer places on the east coast, Loisiana, and Florida for tandom axle trailers under $4500. Anyway, any feedback on trailers you have bought for your own C-25's is appreciated.

I tried to get a quote from EZ-Loader last month, the local distributor here in Sacramento told me that EZ-Loader is no longer making trailers for Catalina 25's (he didn't know why, just that the factory won't build any more trailers for C-25's). I am going to ask Champion for a bid next week. I have tried to contact them by e-mail three or four times in the past couple of months, but they have never responded - I guess they don't have their secretary checking e-mail. Guess I can try a Fax or snail mail.
I've done business with Champion (on parts). Very prompt and knowledgable service on the phone. I think you may have to call 'em to get results. Even though they have a web page, they feel like an 'old fashioned' company.
I don't think there's too much to 'customizing' and EZ loader for a C25.
I looked at the pictures of the newer EZ loaders... the model in the picture appear to be exacly like my older C25 trailer except for the length of the side plates that hold up the roller assemblies. I have a suspicion that if you found the right person at the HQ in Washington you'd be able to get one made the way you need. There's not much to those side plates anyway... pieces of aluminum plate with a few holes drilled in them. I could measure 'em for you, but I'm sure the EZ loader factory would know exactly what they are.
I've seen some C25's advertised recently in Latitude 38 with 3rd party trailers... darn... can't remember the name of the trailer that one of the ads was talking about. Will see if I can dig something out. Wonder if the folks at Catalina Direct could offer some advice?
