We are planning on doing the great loop in a trawler in a few years. We have 2 dogs- corgi and a golden and we want them to be used to being on a dock and in a boat. I can easily move the corgi around using his life jacket so can easily pull him up when we are swimming. The Golden ways 75 pound. Has anyone built/bought a ramp so dogs swimming can easily get back in the boat?
I would teach it to use the swim ladder. We did that for our dog when I was a kid (swimming pool ladder, not a boat). We just showed her how to put her hind feet onto a step and push herself up and out.. Prior to that we always worried that she would jump in when we were not around and drown. After we taught her, she could jump in anytime she wanted and get out easily. She was a beautiful apricot poodle. She swam so much the chlorine turned her hair green during the summer.
