Well, we had a great turnout for the 1st Annual Indiana Sailing Championship. We had nine boats show up to race, which we are very happy with...since it was the first year for the race. We had great wind for the races as well.

No big surprise, Bill Meinert of North Manchester won the race. Bill finished first in all three races. In the last race, Bill was even the last one out of the gate and way back in the pack, but managed to eventually catch and destroy everyone in his path...eeeking out a win over a Catalina 25 Tall Rig. Congrats to Bill! It is safe to say, he is by far the best racer in the state of Indiana.

We had three races and timed each one, but went by a points scoring system. We had a three way tie for fourth. But if you had to go to a tie breaker with overall time in the three races, Pinter would have finished fourth, Brock Watters and myself would have finished fifth and Robert Olyzk and Kurt "The Living Legend" Gregory would have finished in sixth place. But it was decided before we began that we would use the points system no matter the outcome...even with a tie! Maybe next year we will use a tiebreaker. But we will take it, for it being our first big race.

Yes it was a great time!!! I only ran aground four times, and fouled two boats at the biggining of the third race and had to do my 720's and started dead last, but the wind gods were kind and we actually had some decent wind. Next year I hope we do a better job advertising this race sooner. It would help if we could post directly to the race page on this web sight. We still don not have the 2004 or 2005 national results posted yet, as was asked for by Gary B. and several others. Thanks to fleet 43 for a great races series.

Well done everyone. Bill would you mind posting your season results. I know you have raced a lot this year and I would love to see where and how it turned out.

As for the Race page; we just have to believe that the new web-master will have more time to meet the needs of the many racers that come to the association site for information. We are all so lucky to have this site and should be very grateful to Spike for everything she has done to maintain it.

Next years race will be announced after the first of the year when our measurer gets the permits set.

We will also try to post the race announcement on this website and maybe add it to the racing page. Due to the late announcement of the race, we lost out on the possibility of up to 8 to 10 more boats coming.

Looking forward to a huge turnout next year! Although, this years was pretty good!
