Can some one tell me the significance of the sail number. I have an 1985 C-25 with the sail number 4245

That number is consistent with your age, that would be hull number 4245 out of the factory. Wear it with pride.
(It should match the hull number on the silver plate beneath your tiller on the inside of the transom.)

You might try the old trick of laying a piece of paper over the plate and 'coloring it' with a pencil.

The number is also part of the HIN that is etched in the port side transom just below the rubrail.

For example, CTYK<b>4245</b>XXXX

The number don is talking about should also be on your title and possibly your registration, if your state requires you to register the boat.

My sail numbers are 97992 and that is the number my boat (hull # 398) is registered with US Sailing. When you see those longer numbers, that's what it means.
