The 26M? Personally, I think the newer M looks a lot better than the old X model, especially with the dark blue hull. Saw one with a spinnaker up the other day.
Gary, I'm going to spend the night Friday and go sailing Saturday. Karen and the girls (plus friends) are shopping for Homecoming dresses on Saturday - God spare me from that!
Since I did a long overnight last weekend I don't think I'll go to La Playa Cove (unless you want to go Friday night?)
Wait till you see the new car, Honda Insight, 53 mpg since I picked it up. Should get over 56 once I perfect driving a hybrid.
I've owned a used, then a new one awhile ago and raced both for lots of years. A ton of fun. Still have the Black Magic tiller stick up in the rafters plus some assorted junk parts that never got disposed of. Now that would be a good reason to make a trip out there to Lake Pheasant...to sail a Prindle again. What problems are you having rigging this boat?
Jim, Saturday night is the choice but we can get a big group together for another weekend REAL SOON, okay?
Will arrange with our friends with their new C30 (1983) raftup this weekend.
Maybe see you during the day, though, on Saturday.
Fleet 7 could grow by another boat next year. A guy named Scott from Folsom Lake wants to bring his boat down and put it into a slip and go racing. So racing we can go!!! OBTW, had a new power supply installed in this dinosaur computer and we're in business again. Happy sailing again
Yup, a 1982 Prindle 16 we picked up for $200. There is a couple of fairleads and cleats on the front crossbar that are not identified in the manual. At first I thought it was an alternate jib sheet setup, now I think it is a baberhauler setup. Sound right?
Looks like I am missing one of the jib blocks. I'll have to find one. The jib sheet setup on these things seems to be more complex than needed. The jib halyard with s-hook setup seems weird too. The manual leaves alot of info out on how these lines are setup and used.
For such a small boat the complexity of the running rigging is greater than our other boats.
Jim, Susie and I got down to the boat early and headed south for a rendevous with our inexperienced C30 friends. We talked to them on channel 71 several times and timed our meeting for when we got into the San Diego bay entrance. We then turned around and sailed with them heading toward the islands. Man, that C30 can move faster than the C25!! They got a bit nervous out about the last green buoy (there first time out on the big pond) so we turned around and headed back into the harbor. The wind there was strong and gusty with lots of shifts so they got some good sailing experience. The boat traffic was tight. We got back into the inner green buoy and said goodbye as it was about 2pm and we needed about three hours to get back up the coast to Mission Bay and the slip. Susie and I made around 12 tacks, each time driving the boat almost into the kelp before short tacking out. The current felt about 2mph so that drove us south each time we tacked out. The wind was clocking north and was blowing around 12-15mph but the ocean was relatively flat, not much swell action either. Arrived back at the slip around 5pm, cleaned up, headed over to Boll Weavil for some good burgers and then on home by 8pm. Up at 5am each day for school. What we might do next weekend: Be prepared to drive down Friday afternoon after classes end, jump on the boat and motor/sail to La Playa cove, maybe meeting our friends for the night for a raftup. You can too. And anyone else for that matter. Unless Cavins are coming down Friday night then we could go Saturday night instead. Doug and Mo? What say you, arrrrgghh!!
Friday night is a home highschool football game so I will be there, not at the boat. I'll be watching the game and helping the marching band.
Willing to sail to the Bay for a raftup / overnight Saturday. Maybe we should try Gloiretta Bay, that way we can easily go to the Coronado Ferry Landing for dinner.
I can call and get us anchoring permits. What do you think?
Okay, sounds good. See if you can get the anchoring permits (I hope I didn't wait too long on this again). Our friends will NOT be going as they must go to Santa Barbara this weekend. We can do this trip again soon with them included. Hope others will join in.....
