Bill, Wiring seems to vary a lot depending on boat, year, location and PO modifications. In my area, the topmost 360* light is for anchor and the light half-way up the mast is usually on in conjuction with the Red/Green bow and White stern for Steaming/Running. You might want to see if the wire for the top is seperate from the rest but tied in at the Running breaker on the panel and if you have a seperate "Anchor" breaker/switch; you could move the top light wire to the Anchor switch. For the top light to be an Anchor light, it must be a 360* and visible for 2 miles (ie. pretty bright).
I thought about those but he said that he could get his running lights to work, both top and mid mast. Do you think he has 2 seperate lights at the top? Or dual feeds to one light, one from the Anchor switch and one from the Running switch?
none of my lights worked as well. two were burned out bulbs. two were bad contacts on the lights. so my suggestion is dont take anyones word for what works. check it all yourself. start with the most obvious and the simplest. it your boat has been sitting in a moorage or even just sitting in a driveway in the moisture day after day you have to assume a bunch of corrosion.
