Does 50:1 sound correct for a Johnson 9.9? This is the first time I am refilling my tank and there does not seem to be any guidance on my aging motor. I use 50:1 for my chainsaw and trimmer so that would be convenient.
We have the 30 mile around the lake race coming up on 10/8 so I want to top off in case of a drifter day.
I have an 88 Evinrude 9.9 Yachtwin in which I have used 100 to 1 mix without a failure for 16 years. The motor starts first time everytime, seldom if ever stalls at idle speed, and pushes the boat along at hull speed at half throttle, giving me plently of extra poer in rough conditions if needed. It's only drawbacks are gas mileage and noise. I'm hoping to trade in for a Yamaha 4-stroke in the next year or two because of them.
Thanks for the feedback. I went with the 50:1 yesterday. Being the same as my other toys helps as well. This old motor runs great for the brief periods I need it. This should get me into next July or August.
It is so helpful to have this forum, I really enjoy it.
