To those of you who have much more experience than I do with this, I ask your sage advice.
Is there a good hand held anemometer (wind speed gauge) that you can recommend that is of a reasonable cost? And if you have one, does it do the job well, or are there pitfalls with a device like this that one should be aware of?
Practical Sailor did an evaluation some time back if you have a way to review past issues, I don't remember bast buy, maybe others do--?? Good luck , Ron Orion srsk SW FL
John - I bought a Wind Wizard about 3 years ago that works fairly well. It was the cheapest hand held I could find at the time. The downside is orienting it to the wind to read it. It's picky about being oriented just right and can be a minor hassle. I'd love to have a "real" mast mounted wind meter, but I can't cost justify it.
I have an old Davis wind gauge, it is somewhere on the boat. I just look outside. If trees are being up rooted, it is too windy. If the lake is like glass have a beer.
