As you may know, your officers meet once per month and staff joins them every other month. Your membership fees are used to fly us all to the British Virgin Islands, where we charter a Catalina 42 for this meeting. (Wake me up, that was a dream. We have a conference call).
We take care of the business of the National Association, and believe it or not, there is enough to keep the 9 of us pretty busy. Please be aware that there are 11 officer and staff positions but only 9 people serving. If anyone would like to step in as Quartermaster or Tell Tale editor, or help out in any way, just give me a call. We need lots of things - do we have a photoshop person out there who would like to add the Capri logo to our existing artwork? Anyone want to offer their skills in other areas?
You see, you could offer to help out with little things from time to time without signing up for a full year.
We voted to create a new Staff position, Fleet Chaplin, and Don Peet has agreed to serve. The duties of this office will be to bless the fleet concurrent with our Memorial Day National Rally and to offer a non-demoninational all faith service at the Nationals.
There's just going to be a ton of work actually changing everything to make this look like a home for our Capri 25 sailors and its going to take some time.
I don't know if you know but Karen Baumgart (my esposa) is standing down as web Master and Paul Alcock is slowly taking over. Right now, all the web site changes you may notice are from Paul while Spike is still helping out with Forum maintenance.
Do you know that this Association collects lots of your money and tries to spend it wisely? We can thank JB for bringing his professional expertise to this matter and financial reports will be published in the Tell Tale.
Speaking of the Tell Tale, One of my first official decisions has been to delegate this to Kris (who was not able to attend the call). Kris is our new secretary and will be responsible for meeting minutes, Tell Tale editor, and all membership inquiries.
One of my projects is going to be to create an email distribution list so that we can email Tell Tales and other information to the membership. We have about 900 members. Only about 75 use this forum on a regular basis. Under my leadership as Vice Commodore, we dropped from the new By Laws the requirement to mail things to members. Email and Forum are the authorized means of communication. I intend to get the email system working better than it did for our election. This will actually save the Association a lot of money - previously Karen and I were printing, duplicating, stuffing 900 envelopes and mailing the Tell Tale to everyone. Now its official email only. Also, I made the offer to mail it to anyone who did not have email. One person so requested. We will honor that.
Your new officers are looking forward to a productive year. As your boats come off the water at the end of the season, why not think about keeping the sailing alive and volunteer to help your Association? Anyone with a skill or ability to share, please drop an email and we'll keep your name on file.
Any member that finds themselves in San Diego, just remember that you've got a boat here and an invitation to go sailing 7x24x365.

I use Photoshop on regular basis to render set designs and would be glad to take a stab at new logo that incorporates all three models logos and our new name. Is this
the official Capri 25 logo? The photos on the Wayzata Yacht Club’s Capri 25 Fleet page show a red triangle with a white “C” but no lower white triangle just a black 25. It will be hard to see a difference between the Catalina 25 and the Capri 25 without using the word “Capri”. Could a Capri owner advise us on the proper logo?
BTW Jim, there are a ton of photos of the Capri’s racing at the Wayzata Yacht Club’s Capri 25 Fleet page.
Underlined words are a HOT link.
The proper program for generating a new logo file is Illustrator. Anyone who wants to submit logo ideas is welcome and may do so in any format and from any program they like. We will take the final decision into Illustrator to create the real thing.
John G, That is not the Capri 25 logo. You can see it in the picture Chris posted in this thread. You can also see it in my picture in my signature block. You are correct, the Catalina 25 and Capri 25 logos are close, but the Capri 25 does not have the lower triangle on the diamond.
