I have the 6 adjustable brace stands on my trailer. I replaced the carpet padding one at a time. I noticed as a loosened the bolts a couple of the pads had a great deal more load on them than did others. How do I go about setting them so they are properly loaded? Are they supposed to carry some load or just act as stabilizers keeping the boat from tipping? Thanks

Hi Mark,

If you have a fixed keel or wing keel boat, about 80% to 90% of the boat's weight should rest on the keel. The remaining weight is supported by the six pads. So, each pad probably has about 100 to 200 lbs of weight that it individually supports. The "feel" of this is that each pad is pretty snuggly pressing against the boat's hull. Sometimes a small hydraulic jack can help press the pads a bit more snuggly...........you probably only have to raise the pad an additional 1/8 inch or so.
