Anyone know anything about this boat? here is a link to some photos

http://www.sailingtexas.com/scoronado15j.html

I've got a real good price on one (not the one in the photo). I'm thinking of putting an outboard bracket with my 3 HP outboard (long shaft). Then we would take this boat for week long camping trips down to Bahia del los Angeles in Baja.

Daysailing, fishing, hopefully beach launching.

Will the boat plane off the wind?

Is it seaworthy enough for coastal trips in the protected Bahia?

Trailer easily behind V8 Explorer?

Are sails still available?

Can it beat a Laser?

Carry 2 or 3 people?

Can you rig a trapeze?

My price is $450 and includes trailer and everything in good condition (needs cosmetic work).

Jim,
Looks like a fun boat. Here is the Nationa Association web site. You might get some help there.
Instead of a trapeze they may rig “hiking straps” in the floor of the cockpit that you hook your toes under.

Jim, that is a very good boat. A very active association of mostly old people. However! I would look for something with a cuddy for your purposes. ODay made their "Daysailor" in both open and cuddy versions as did Tanzer and other. The Daysailor was built by several different companies. Personally I think about $450 is right for most of these boats.

The link JG gave to their web site shows photos, with at least one with a trapeze. That would seem to answer your question.

When I had a Daysailor, the real one, I had a cuddy version, and remember an article in their equivalent of the TellTail, on a guy sailing his on a cruise into Northern Canada, including covering some open leg voyages.

Here's where I want to go, perhaps 10 days next June

Working on a trailer-able daysailor would be a fun winter project.

Jim,
I can't comment on the boat but Bahia de Los Angeles can go from no wind to a sustanined high velocity wind in a manner of minutes. It is popular with sailboarders for that reason. I don't know if I would take a C25 out on it, little less a trailer sailor. Make sure you know what you're getting into before you jump.
Check out this report or do a Google on "Bahia de Los Angeles" & wind.

Understood about the sudden winds, its why I would want to outfit the boat with my 3 HP long shaft outboard. Also, in case of a sudden westerly I guess I'd just head west, over to a Isla de la Guardia anchorage.

June is suppossed to be a settled month.

Thanks for the link, I'll have to study it.

Try this website. There is a very active Coronado 15 association here in Half Moon Bay.

sails were in like new condition and I'll be trailering the boat home tomorrow. I already have a potential buyer if I don't like the boat.

Can anyone suggest the proper motor mount for a 28 pound 3 HP 2 stroke long shaft outboard? Or maybe just hang off the transom?

I'm thinking of renting the boat to Gary Norgan so he can use it next summer at the lake by his house.

Lightweight planing dinghy, ye ha, I can't wait to try it out in Mission Bay!

I'll post photos soon.

I almost had contact with a bunch of these boats a few years ago at the High Sierra Regetta, Huntington Lake CA. Our start was before them, we were part way up the lake, 7 miles long at 8000 foot elevation, when they started screeming past us. These guys were crazy fearless. I rmemeber crossing paths with them, all crew out on traps, it seemed like they were trying to see who could get their heads closest to our motor with out hitting it. I mean close!!! I think they werer even closer to eachother than us.
