The lifelines on my boat look really bad. I've temporarily covered them with water tubing to hide how awful they look (which tends to trap moisture = bad), and I need to replace them.
Somewhere I recently read about someone replacing the SS cable lifelines with low-stretch line ... is that a good idea, or not? I'd like to hear what y'all think.
Thanks!

My upper shrouds are due for replacement. I plan on using the old shrouds for new lifelines. They will have to be cut to measure and re sweged but that will not be a big expense. perhaps someone else is preparing to do the same thing and would be willing to donate or sell the old stays.
John V., I seem to have a vague recollection of reading that lifeline wire is 7X19 (aka flexible) whilst shroud wire is 1X19 (not so flexible). This may not mean anything, but thought I would mention it, perhaps someone more knowledgeable can comment. In general, I am for recycling everytime, of course, Ron Orion srsk #2343 SW FL
