Does anyone want to recommend a source for the bottom hardware used for trailer guides, or goalposts, for my C250WK trailer? By bottom hardware, I mean the clamps, and metal stuff. The ones I have seen that I like put PVC pipe on the lower, metal portion.
I have seen the thread about making them yourself, but since I will be trailering to salt water, I am hoping to find something galvanized or otherwise more corrosion resistant than a Home Depot ladder support. My trailer will be galvanized steel.
Also, I read a thread but can't find it now where folks were putting some sort of protection on the supports at the entrance to the wide vee on the back of the trailer, to prevent the wing keel from being damaged if you "missed". I think the goal posts will prevent missing, but I would like to protect it anyway. Does anyone remember or otherwise have a recommendation on what material to use to protect it? Plastic tubing? Pipe insulation? Attach with duct tape?

Kevin, I had goal post on my MAC-22's trailer, I got them at Boaters World and they worked fine. However, the 250WK trailer has a keel guide that lines the keel and the boat up on the trailer. I've found I don't need the goal post. I suppose if you have a strong current where you launch you may want them but I haven't found that to be the case for me yet.
I'm not sure if you want pipe guide-ons with a C25. Unlike a powerboat, the widest part of the beam is well forward... and the stern will still be able to swing around quite a bit.
As far as protection from hitting the trailer, I think some sections of discarded car tire cut out and bolted around the frame would work well... or perhaps get your hands on some scrap rubber conveyor belting. Even old carpet would be better than nada.

Several suggestions are for clear tubing that you slice to put on the bumper uprights. Instead, I used thick INSULATING FOAM TUBES (for hot water pipes), already sliced. I attached them with black tie wraps. I have pulled my boat out only once and had no problems. I temporarily rigged "goal posts" with PVC pipe and bungee cords - they would not guide the boat but would tell me when it was centered. Then the water was clear enough I could see fine without the goal posts!
Thanks. The purpose you describe for the goalposts is the same that I have in mind - figuring out where the trailer is in relation to the boat when recovering. That insulation was the stuff I had in mind as well, although (I hate to admit) I had not thought of zip ties, now it is so obvious...duh.
The previous owner of our boat and trailer also put tennis balls on the tops of the guide posts that serve to let you know when the trailer is deep enough to float the boat on. When the water reaches halfway up the balls, which you can see easily from the truck mirrors while at the wheel, you know you're there. Just one of the many thoughtful improvements he made.
