(1) We are going to hire a professional to re-vamp the web site. We need to make extensive changes in order to accomodate the Capri 25's. We are getting bids now. Changes needed are too extensive for our volunteer webmasters to handle. Also, I am in the process of trying to get ownership of our domain name back in our hands (oddly enough, www.catalina25-250.org is owned by the now-defunct SailNet). Once this occurs, we can move our web site off Adaptive to Hostway. All performance issues will then be fixed. Meanwhile, we've done what we can so bear with us. Adaptive is not a very good hosting company, it scores an "F" on many web performance measures, and has the very anthisis of "Customer Service" when you are trying to deal with them.

(2) I am going to announce a contest to design a new logo. The new logo must incorporate Catalina 25, Catalina 250 and Capri 25. It must be suitable for the website as well as letterhead and embroidery. Prize will be 2 polo shirts from the Ships Store embroidered as you like. Staff is eligible. Officers will judge the winner. An officer may submit a design but is not elligible for the prize. I'll make a sticky thread soon with official contest rules plus you can see the logo I've submitted.

(3) We have lots of new affiliate links. If you are going to buy something from West Marine, buy it through our link. You will get a discount and the National Association will get money. You'll see a sticky thread soon with all the links in it.

(4) Ships Store is being outsourced. The only thing we will sell directly is burgee and stickers. But shirts, hats, and anything else you might desire will be available from outside the Association. We are paying for our logos to be digitized and created as embroidery files. Other than that, the National Association has no relationship with the vendor, this is being offered as a service to you, not a National Association fundraiser.

(5) The officers decided to continue meeting monthly, even though we ar spending your money. Staff is invited every other month. We are a distributed organization. Monthly conference call is the only practical way to conduct Association business. Officers also make extensive use of direct email on a daily basis.

Great Job, and thanks for the update. I'm glad to see website issues as number 1
The Catalina 36 folks have a pretty slick website, I wonder who does theirs? (I'm a catalina 36 mark 2 wannabe)

By the way, how are we doing for cash in our treasury?

I ordered 3+ boat units worth of PFD's from WM through the Association link last week, but there was nothing that mentioned a discount nor was there anything about a Association kick-back. What is the real word on this.
These monthly notes are great. Thanks Jim.

Actually Jim I think it was $319.98 although I didn't know it was you until you came forward. It came through on our weekly statement yesterday and it netted the association $12.80. Thank you immensely. When you clicked on our link you passed information via the web to West Marine, any subsequent purchase you make from there in the next 30 days online will be credited to. The service runs transparently to any customers, so you would not have been notified. The association will get a check on a monthly basis as long as the amount due to us is greater than 50 bucks.

For more information about the program, you can look at West Marine's Website. On the front page you near the bottom you will see a link titled affiliate enrollment underneath the "about West Marine" header. This particular program is administered by a company called performics (as is the sunglass hut). Our other 3rd party administrator for this is a company called commission junction. They are a subsidiary of a NYSE company and handle all of the rest of our affiliate programs.

At this time there isn't a discount for West Marine. We have free shipping at Boaters World and discounts on Sail, Sailing World and Cruising World Magazines.

We will have a 15% discount coming up for West Marine Holiday shopping, but at this point I am unsure of a date and what items are/aren't included in the sale.

Again,
Thank you for taking the time to click through via the web, We did recognize it.

Thanks,
Duane

Thanks Duane, I just wanted to make sure it worked as advertised and the Association got it's DO. By the way it was a great price for the Stearns 3000 Offshore Jackets with Harness. I got two for that price then got $20 off for WM rewards. Basically ended up at $150 each.

Could we change the domain name to say Catalina-25.com or Catalina25-250.com . I checked and they are available. I guess the 64K question is whether the 25-250 excludes the capri or if the /25 is unfair to everyone except the 25?

Just a thought.

Tom.
