Good morning folks, It is with great regret that I send this out to all of you. I have been a member of this forum for almost 6 years. I used to submit under a different name years ago and was very involved in the forum until a couple of years ago. My boat, "Pep-Sea One" took some damage in Hurricane Wilma. The hull took some damage above the water line, (nothing below). The motor was ripped off of the mount, the mount was destroyed, the rudder was pulled off of the stern, and a cleat went through the hull on the starboard side of the bow. The boat took on a lot of rain during the hurricane and I am in the process of drying everything out. I don't think anything is permanently damaged in the cabin but the guys at the boat works place tell me that the teak and holly sole that I had put in (beautifully crafted) may delaminate over time. When the tow company came to get the boat, they told me it would be $2,500.00 just to get it off the dock and to the shop... repairs being over and above that. I am a school teacher and I don't have the funds to fix the boat... I really don't even have the $2.5K but will have to borrow it from my parents. The boat has GPS, marine radio, handheld radio, CD player with interior and exterior speakers, 9.9 Evinrude Yachtwin kicker,(beat up but salvagable) main, 120, 150 sails, covers for sail and tiller. It is a fixed keel... I don't even want to say what I would be willing to take for her... I love this boat... I would definitely be asking under $5K for her. My only other option is to beg the people of this forum to help a fellow sailor in need. Donations would be wonderful to allow me to keep my baby. I live in Melbourne, Florida if anyone is interested. It has been a great run and I will miss being a part of the Catalina Family... My email address is panicold@brevard.k12.fl.us if anyone wants particulars on the boat... Cell # is 321-720-7140. Thanks everyone for being a big part of my life for all these years. Sincerely, Dave Panicola "Pep-Sea One"
Why is there a problem? Don't you have insurance to cover it all? Don't you have to have insurance? Sorry about the boat but take the total settlement and let the insurance company worry about it and get another one.
