I think I have seen this covered but I cant seem to find it in a search. I have been useing a couple of real long, pretty heavy (3/8?)sheets and I would like to stream line my system and uncluter my cockpit a bit. Also do I need a diffrent set for diffrent sails? And how about one long sheet with a loop in the middle?
I just got my order of running rigging from Layline. I ordered:
Main Sheet 3/8" 55' Main Halyard 5/16" 65' Jib Halyard 5/16" 67' Spin Halyard 5/16" 65' Topping Lift 1/4" 68' Jib Downhaul 1/4" 48' Main Reefing Line 1/4" 37' Tiller Tamer Line 1/4" 7' Traveler control Lines 1/4" 2x5'
All Sta Set in varied colors matched in color groupings. For instance the Jib Halyard is red fleck and the Jib Downhaul is solid red.
I raised the mast last night and checked all the lengths run back to the cockpit rope clutches and they were fine. This afternoon I will replace my Main Sheet and check it's length.
I'm going to order some line to make my own Lazy Jacks soon. My Genoa Sheets and Spin Sheets were in decent condition so I didn't replace them. If you need me to I can go out and check their lengths later today.

Okay, so I'm new and still learning the system....
I meant to ask StSimon: Do you have a tall or standard rig? I like the shopping list you added, and will - completely without shame - gladly steal the idea. I just want to make sure I'm doing it right!
I have a 1984 SK SR. Obviously with a TR you would need to account for the extra height both ways (up the mast and back down).
It's not about stealing ideas in this forum, it's about sharing ideas. Most of the upgrades and modifications I have completed or are in progress were either exact copies or slight modifications of someone else's idea. I have no problem using their idea as long as they were willing to share it in this forum or in the Tech Tips forum. I've spent a lot of time analyzing what has worked for others before deciding their idea was something I wanted or needed on my boat. The sailing community as a whole is a generous community, always ready to help a fellow sailor.
Good luck to you Rick, and keep asking questions. I know I will.
