for my catalina 25, I have bought a "Vinyl Glass gasket channel" to Catalina Direct to replace them on all my windows .... but there is always leaks. Did somebody has an idea of how to "waterproof" this new gasket.

I also replaced the gasket in my windows, but they still leak a bit. I tried doping with a flowable silicone but that didn't get it all and it looks somewhat messy. The vinyl seems to be a slightly lighter gauge than what it should be, so doesn't make a very tight seal.
I was planning to take each window apart for the (hopefully) last time and coat critical surfaces with a silicone material just before assembly.

Per Catalina Direct, they make two types of Gaskets. One actually goes around the glass, the other is a more decorative piece. They recommend using life seal with both.

It was always my understanding that the vinyl strip that goes into the channel was cosmetic. I took my windows completely apart a few years ago to have the frames re-anodized. I LEARNED TO HATE SILICONE ON THIS PROJECT. Someone smathered gobs of it inside the inner frame. I spent hours cutting, scraping, swearing and peeling the silicone off everything it got onto. I discovered the windows were leaking in two places; (1) around the outer edge of the outer frame, naturally (2) between the inner edge of the outer frame and the glass. The glass is expoxied to the frame. I used a butyl rubber (purchased from an auto glass store that came in a caulking tube) between the inner edge of the outer frame and the glass. DO NOT USE A URETHANE material or you'll never get it off again. Life Caulk between the outer frame and the cabin top. I've had zero leaks in 4 years.
I can't think of a single application above the waterline where you would apply gasket material to both the inside and outside surfaces. If you caulk inner surface and the outside caulk is leaking (1) you won't know that you have a leak and (2) you'll be forcing the water to migrate where you may not detect it for years - maybe rotting something all the while.
Good luck.
