I just bought a new 4-prong mast-light wiring plug from Cat. direct. I unscrewed the deck-mounted portion of the plug and saw that some of the wiring going through the deck is worn out.
I need to replace some of this wiring. What's the best way to get to this wiring from inside the cabin? Is the wiring running behind the wooden wall above the head? If so, do I have to remove that wall to get to the mast wiring?? Anyone done this? Looks like a big job.
Steve, See "running mast wire" authored by Brooke Wilson also today. I actually cleaned the corrision off the copper wire strands with a small wire brush and some contact cleaner.
. . . I also tinned the ends of these wires in an attempt to stave off future corrosion.
Mike: Great information. I found the thread and will most likely do very much what you've done on your boat. Still can't believe Catalina molded the wires into the deck.....
