When leaving my 1989 C25 the hook on my lifeline fell apart and of course some parts are 8 ft under. I searched several suppliers on the internet and couldn't find a replacement. Pelican hooks and snap hooks are plentiful but my hook screws into my lifeline turnbuckle. I can't find it probably because I'm not sure what the terminology is. I'll try to place a picture I found at West Marine's catalouge advertising tape but it shows a hook which I think is similar to my old hook. Here's the site with picture (I hope this works):
Judging from WM picture, what you are talking about is a Pelican hook. You just have to make sure it is the correct size to screw onto your lifeline. I think ours are 3/16, but am not real sure.
I just yesterday recieved the Catalina Direct "Catalina C25 Handbook" and it shows that hook as a pelican hook as part of the lifeline upgrade kit. Go to Catalina Direct and type in "pelican hook" and it should come up. Cheers.
Dennis, Just ordered the parts book/catalouge from CD. Their on line ordering system has limited parts available and leaves alot to be desired. I called and the salesman said I'd have to talk to the Tech People to get the correct pelican hook. They used several hooks over the years. Evidently they are busy and I have to keep calling back. Hopefully, I'll get through and get to correct hook. Looking forward to receiveng the book. Hope it arrives in time for Christmas! Bill
Got thru to a Tech person at CD after lunch. He was very helpful and informed me that no one carries the original pelican hooks because they were not good products and that there were several manufacturers were originally used, even the thread pitch would be different depending on the manufacturer. His advice was to take the line to local suppliers and try to match it. I appreciate his honesty and good advice rather than trying to sell me something that might not fit. Bill
