I have an idea for one where you can have two anchors mounted at the same time, basically, it would have two end rollers, two chain channels and the forestay would be connected in-between the two.
Another idea is similar to the above except the channel is mounted such that the left or right side is aligned with the center of the boat.
I was also looking on the net for pics of a system where the roller was centered on the boat, the channel sides were connected near the end such that the forestay would connect to them, and there would be an overhanging steel v-shaped cover such that the anchor would rest just below the end of the bow, straddling the v-shaped cover.
Hi John, I also have two anchors and what I was thinking of is taking the CD bow roller (which also adds two more attach points for the forestay which is a great idea) and adding a roller on the other side so there would be one on each side. Cheers.
I hang one danforth anchor on the pulpit and have the other in the locker. When cruising I sometimes leave the 2nd in the roller. Both have 40 feet of 5/16 chain and 200 - 300 feet of 1/2 nylon and it all fits in the locker (with care).
I cut a small notch in the anchor locker cover so that it can close yet the chain runs out.
The 89 wing already has such a notch.
West Marine has several pulpit hangers for danforths but I made my own with some hose and 2 peices of rope.
Beware, take the anchor off the pulpit before flying the spinnaker.
My bow anchor setup is almost identical to Jim B's. I have the Catalina Yachts stem fitting w/bow roller upgrade, a 20# or so Danforth Hi-Tensile w/20' light chain & 300' 3/8" nylon double braid, and a 22# or so Claw (Bruce clone) w/30' heavy chain & 250' 7/16" nylon double braid. In addition to the notch in the anchor locker lid and lip, I also made up a movable partition to keep the two rodes separated in the locker. Note that the Claw's shank is drilled for the captive retaining pin which comes with the stem fitting/bow roller assembly.
