Actually, the table on my '97 wk has them. I suspect the reason yours doesn't is because it's designed to be stowed under the v-berth. If you pull up the boards under the v-berth cushions, you'll see there's another lip below the one the cover rests on. It's designed to match your table - which won't fit if there are fiddles on it.
Thank you, Bubba! I wonder if any other owners know what a fiddle is on a boat. BTW, what's the origin of the term? I'll try and Google for the answer.
I agree that the storage location would pose a problem for a fiddled table... but I doubt that is the prime reason it doesn't.
Fiddles fit more with the character of a blue water boat... compared with a camping boat. Fiddles can be a real pain in the arse for playing cards for example. Everything on the table top has to be picked off the top rather than swooped off... like crums after cheese 'n crackers.
For this reason, a popular route to go is a leafed table that when the leaves are folded on top of the table rather than hanging to the side, the bottom of the leaves contain the fiddle for the smaller table. This way, the best of both worlds is reached... and while underway when the fiddles are needed, the table is also smaller so that it is not in the way or the leaves subject to stress and abuse if someone is thrown about.
The proof of my argument is in the special hinges that are designed specifically for this over the top hinging. They are the only hinges that will work and can be found at marine specialty locations and probably aren't available at most home centers.
