I need to install a Windex on my C250WK. Is there any trick to where to drill, and spot better than another? I am paranoid about drilling a hole in my mast...

Thanks.

Keven

You need to mount an extension that gets the windex aft of the mast about a foot so you can later mount an antenna for your VHF directly on the mast. The extension can be bought with the windex.

I don't have any pictures of my current boat but on my cat 22 mast I remember drilling and "tapping" threads into the top bracket and using 2 short stainless screws with locktite to hold the bracket on.

Of course if you are not running a wire up the mast for your vhf, you can attach it directly.

Depending on which size windex is used, no extension is needed for the smaller...and I find the smaller very adequate for the height of the 250 mast.

Here is a picture of my setup for the windex and antenna. The actual windex is not in place, but you can see the extension and the base of the windex. The windex just slips in the base and is locked with a set screw.

Jerry,

Your mast looks horizontal ... I hope this doesn't mean there's not much sailing going on!

Max, check the date. That was the day the dealer brought the mast up and we completed the commissioning process. Matter of fact went sailing with my youngest Friday and had a blast. It was her first time with the wheel steering and combined with a gust the boat did its thing and she went the wrong way with the wheel. Told her Mom she almost turned the boat over. Not going to happen, but we did do some rocking and rolling to the tune of 30 - 40 degrees. She finnaly got the hang of it and we had a great three hours on the water.
