Hello all and happy new year. I have the boat at the house over the holidays doing the "heavy" maintenance. On the last cruise the head plugged up with something. Forceful pumping caused the head pump to shear off!
"warning" DO NOT pump the head it it is plugged up!
I repaired the pump and still had a problem, so I started taking things apart. Anyone who has worked with sanitation hose knows, this is nearly impossible. I finally found the right hose and put a snake down it.
Much to my surprise, I pulled out aprox 5 paper towels!!!!!
There is only one person aboard that would do that...THE BOY!! I now have something else that gets locked up aboard. The roll of paper towels.
The pump cost was $55. I will spend another $50 or so on new hose as the old stuff is 3 Yrs old.
Sounds like time to make the young'n walk the plank! (Sorry, reading a pirate novel and got "in the mood.")
Been there, done that, replacing the head, all hoses AND holding tank. Probably the single most unappealing thing I've ever done other than diaper duty with our newborn many, many years ago.
When one of my boys was about 7 he jumped on the sink to look at himself in the mirror in the upstairs bathroom. It was one of those old houses circa 1916 with old fixtures and lath & plaster walls. The sink was one of those that was bolted to the wall. It fell off and he skedaddled. I noticed water dripping in the downstairs hallway, checked upstairs and found, luckily, that the hot/cold copper water pipes had crimped when the sink came off the wall so the leak wasn't too bad! I waited in the yard for him to come sneaking back and then calmly explained to him that if something like that ever happens PLEASE tell me right away. Just one of many adventures. Gotta luvum.
