We're considering going to the nationals this year (06) and checked out the website of the host club. Is there a launch ramp nearby or do we have to spring for a lift job? We have relatives in Cinci, Dayton Ohio and Michigan so would make the most of the trip with JD trailed behind us.
Wow! two weeks off work and some great sailing.. what a prospect.
I’ve received very minimal interest from the 250’s. Right now I don’t have enough commiTtments to make a fleet. If there aren’t at least 3 boats, there won’t be a trophy handed out, regardless of participation. There would still be the overall awards you would be eligible for.
I also only have 2 definite responses from the tall rig 25’s. Long story short, get some of your 250 brethren to make the haul.
There is no ramp at the club that can handle our boats. There is a free in and out by the yard staff using the lift. (just one in and one out) for registered regatta participants. There are federally funded public ramps available less than 1/8th of a mile away (maybe ¼ mile).
I might add –
If you want to attend the function but will not be racing you will need to make slip accommodations at one of the nearby clubs. Both are within a mile. (plus about 4 others within 2 miles) Email me through the forum and I will send you a list. There is limited availability for slips during the regatta on a first come first serve basis. As soon as registration opens up, I will notify everyone via this forum and via email if you have shown intentions of attending. You can still pay for the beverages all weekend plus the couple of small (but not guaranteed) informal meals on Thursday and Friday.
Much of this information is detailed in both the race bid that I submitted to the Association and the Notice of Race, which are both posted on our Racing page. I encourage anyone interested to give them a look.
No place to tie up via buoy, I guess you could always drop the hook, but your really close to a lot of shipping channels. Everything other than wildwood on this link is close. Edgwater Marina and Whiskey Island Marina are the closest.
