Went into my stash of teak this weekend and made some replacement fiddles for the galley area and the shelf above the galley. The Admiral said the black plastic had to go.
The interesting part were the corners on the shelf. The shelf corners were round so I made a block with slots at 90 degrees to make things work.
Wow! awesome job Tom. That layout looks so much better than my 2005 model. Ours has the black plastic along the back of the galley top and the stove is on the after end where your wide drawer is located. Your new teak looks like it was meant to look!
I don't understand why Catalina put the teak fiddles on some models and not all. Something that simple, it can't cost that much when on a production line. But I guess all those simple things add up.
Hi Tom, looks good. My boat has the teak fiddles, hull#643, and Al says his #698 has plastic. Wk-wb difference maybe? Either way Tom, your work looks good.
Hey Frank, I just sent you an e-mail about the teak size. Here's a picture of where my VHF is located. Its right inside the companionway on the port side.
From the through deck fitting near the mast, the coaxial runs down the starboard side. Running down the port side would have been better but... there was no room between the liner and deck on the port side on my boat. I ran the coaxial under the liner behind the teak trim that runs length wise to the galley. From there I ran it down under the galley into the bilge area across to the aft bulkhead of the head and up to the radio. I ran the power from the switch panel again under the galley and followed the same route as the coaxial.
