Thought I should share this. When we are moving the mast from the travel postion to the mast step, it gets awkward to move it about in order to get the bolt through the mast step and the base of the mast. Now I put an 8" fender on the aft side of the mast step and lower the mast onto the fender. It acts like a shock absorber and makes inserting the through bolt easy. It also reduces the risk of scratching the cabin top aft of the mast step.
