Wanted to share my first attemp at metal crafting with the group.....Hopefully this is an inexpensive solution many folks can use. My autopilot mounting socket is in the starboard cockpit seat, but I've never been able to use it because the tiller is so much higher than the seat. (Autopilot was mounted by a previous owner; new curved tiller purchased by another previous owner who didn't care about using the autopilot.) Raymarine sells an offset bracket for about $40, but it's big, ugly and the design seems like it would gouge knees quite readily.
Here's the alternative I came up with. It took me less than half an hour to make (And I must say...I'm very proud of myself!). It's super easy - total cost about $12. I'll send a little write up to Tech Tips if this would be a worthy contribution. (Not sure I posted the pics correctly. If they don't show below, I'll figure it out and try again.)
