I emailed Kurt at Nissan USA and his reply to the lack of a proper hight thrust prop follows.
"<i>I am glad you emailed me back. As a matter of fact the new 4 blade high thrust prop has been tested and worked very well. It was tested on a 26' sailboat through one of our dealers in Florida. He said quote: "that is exactly what the doctor ordered". Anyway we have contacted Solas and they will start production very soon. We were told we should see them in approximately 6-8 weeks. I do not know what the cost is going to be at this time.
We will update the prop section with a part number when they become available.</i>"
I will try to get one for "testing" purposes when it is available. The association members have been giving them good business lately and it would be nice to compare a couple props.
Please keep us posted. I bought the other Pitch choice from Tohatsu for heavier displacement boats. It's a 3 blade prop and I haven't tried it yet. Has anyone used this prop? The new 4 blade sounds ideal.
Way to go Tom. Speaks well of the old adage about the squeeky wheel getting the grease. Of course it might have been responsible for the high pitch props going on sail. So I'll have two extra props. Is that over kill or what?
