What is Catalina's warranty on cracks in the fiberglass? Is this considered a manufacturing defect? I am getting spider cracks near the base of the galley sink, and the boat is only 18 mo old (1st owner).
First time I have heard of spider cracks in the interior of a 250. I would call my dealer about the problem. He should call Catalina for you. I would assume they will want you to send pictures so I would have them ready. Catalina has a rep of taking care of their customers, one reason I stuck with Catalina when I got the new boat, it might take awhile, but I am sure they will take care of your problem. I for one, would be interested in some pictures of the cracks. I may have them and not know it, since I may not look in the area very often or at all.
I have some minor spider cracks at the same location, but my boat is a '97 so I'm not too concerned & they're clearly not structural. After only 18 months seems a little premature - I'd call Catalina as Frog suggested.
Regarding gelcoat cracks, just like door dings on a new car, I would imagine it would be hard for the factory to provide a warranty for gelcoat cracks since so many non-factory things can induce them like improper storage and hauling, trailering bumps and bruises, or the 300lb guest perched on the stern rail seats.
