I never planned on selling her but the Admiral wants a little more space. Who am I to argue? . Take note that I purchased a very nice new set of sails just last year! This is a Lake Erie boat that has never been in salt water. I've only raced Efficacious one season (2005), and we did OK I might add! The rating is 241 (JAM) and 231 (PHRF). I'm asking $9,000. Located near where the Detroit River meets Lake Erie.

Jody, if you still have it come June, would you consider racing her? A national champion boat might fetch more??? If not, would you consider chartering her for someone who can't bring theirs. Your just around the corner and it would be a shame if she sat in her slip.
Also PHRF LE rates 231 now and 241 for JAM (as noted) they gave everyone but 3 or 4 boats a 3 second bump last year.
I'm in sort of a pickle this June! I participated in the Nationals in Indiana and Oregon but had to miss Kansas last year. So I know how fun it is. I'm always shocked at how difficult it is to get participation. This year though, I'm starting to understand as the weekend of the Nationals is also the weekend for the Lighthouse Challenge.
I'm Rear Commodore for West Shore Sail Club (WSSC) and the Lighthouse Challenge is our biggest event of the year. We race from a mark just off of Bar Point in Canada around the Detroit light, around Middle Sister Island, around Rattlesnake Island and finish at Middle Bass Island. Where the obvious post-race activities occur with spirit!
I did spend a night in Edgewater last summer with Efficacious - what a gorgeous venue for the Nationals!
For skipper & crew that know the C25 Efficacious would definitely be a top contender at the Nationals with her new sails and VC-17 on the bottom!
Dang! Jody...sorry to hear you are selling her. I remember you well from the Oregon 2004 Nationals. You sailed with Dr. Phil, if I remember correctly.
I do understand your "pickle"... Hope you do really well in the local race, but it would be great to have you in the Nationals. Doesn't look like I will be making it either.
Your boat sounds great. Good luck finding a buyer.

What are you looking for? I had a Tartan 30 for a time and LOVED that boat. Lots more of them in your area, though they are getting old.....Wish there were more out here on the "Left Coast".
Maybe Gary B comes in and takes Jody's boat for a test sail, including trying out the trailer. Maybe the trip is around June 21st.....?/??????Maybe the locale is a spot of lake right in front of the city. ....
Hey Gary! It is nice to hear you remember me. Also glad to see your fleet growing to way that it is. No doubt, results of your efforts! I think I may have a picture I need to send you ... I'll check. If you still see Dr. Korten tell him (and Fletcher) I said "Hi!". I tried to send email a few times but never got a response.
Yes, having two MAJOR races on the same weekend is quite a pickle! Until someone buys her, I'm going to race. This would be a very competitive boat in the nationals. Thanks for the encouraging words with the sale. I sort of missed my lunch date by a few weeks as I had holes in the bottom replacing those silly "to-hulls". Once in the water I'll get some fresh pictures posted.
I don't have a trailer but I do have a nicely re-finished steel cradle for Efficacious.
Hi, is your boat still for sell, if so, do you have any ideas for finding a trailer to transport it on. Sounds like a great deal....thanks
quote:
1984 Catalina 25 SR/FK #4040 "Efficacious"

I passed on your "Hi" to Dr. Phil Korten; I thought he might reach you, if even on this page.
Good luck with the boat "sell". If your local regatta gets cancelled, give me a whistle. I would do the Nationals out there as your crew! (if you desperate enough to want me).
