Duane, What IS the weight limit on Lake Erie? I am not sure why we would have to abide by one anyway, since this is a "One Design" regatta, not a PHRF race. What am I missing?
I cannot bring my boat from the Portland, OR area due to excessive time and expense. However, I "might" be interested in flying out to crew for someone.
With wife and 2 girls as crew, we were 3rd in the 2004 Nationals (out of 15 boats in the SR fleet). Last year, two buddies and I were 5th, I think, in a borrowed boat. (BTW: a weight limit might have helped us on Lake Cheney, as the fastest boats not only flew mylar, but had 4 or 5 crew, while we had just 3 and there was good air).
I have won 3 of the last 4 One Design regattas on the Columbia River. I am not a "great" racer at all, but I do race quite a bit and have had some measure of success.
Please let me know if someone could use me and I will see if I can arrange it with the family.
Considering the expense involved, I would certainly prefer to sail on a boat that has decent sails and a good bottom, basic instruments, etc. with at least a fighting chance to be somewhat competitive.

Is there a spinnaker class, or is EVERYONE supposted to sail JAM? s/v Encore! #685

The weight limit for our boat is 1393 for the standard 1411 or so for the tall. roughly 7 people.
Since we will be a JAM fleet inside of Cleveland Race week and competing for the JAM overal with the other fleets, we need to adhere to the rules set forth by PHRF-LE.
The SI's will be written so that you will abide by PHRF LE except where changed by the class rules. We don't have a class rule for weight, so PHRF-LE will hold.
Love to have you here Gary. Dennis, Kip, Al - one of you better grab him before he decides to bring his boat too.
Also - Justin (former owner of Tako Kichi) is considering coming with his girlfriend. He wants to sail on a separate boat. I'd recommend grabbing either of the two of them - they are both top notch sailors.
Hi Gary and Justin, either one or both of you are welcome on La Tina Caliente. The sails are good and the bottom is so/so. I am spending so much money or rigging that the new bottom might have to wait until next year. Cheers.

You don't need to get it all off just make it smooth.
Thanks for the advice Frank. I had in mind the perfect shinny surface of a new boat. I was at the boat today and I noticed that the swing keel is serverly pitted. When I do the bottom, I think I will have to gring the keep down 1/32 of an inch just to get in uniform. Cheers.
Cute response, Frank. We had a major malfunction before that race and could not get the headsail up until after the start. Actually, it may well have been a mainsail problem; I cannot recall right now. I was going NUTS. Poop happens. (We thought we'd give you a head start).
And, yes, I know Gary's boat had a dacron main. Most (or all) of the boats ahead of us were flying pretty nice mylar genoas, and the second place boat was all mylar. You know that. Still...they all made my old rag look pretty weak! No doubt about it...the level of competition was pretty dang good there in Kansas.
