Hi ! Guys I would like to change the waterpump Impellor on my 1994 Johnson outboard. Can anyone tell me where it IS! How to change it? or havr any diagrams you can post!
I have a shop manual for a 1986 Honda 8HP - I would suspect the water pump and impellar location is probably the same for most small O/B engine's
by dropping the lowest part of the aluminum housing of the extension case, you can probably get at the impeller housing which contains the rubber spinning wheel.
Send me your fax number and I can fax you the pages from my manual.
Marine stores and Amazon.com all have books on repairing outboards. If you can't get a shop manual for yours, these books will probably be more useful for Johnson/Evinrude or Mercury owners than a Honda manual will. After the water pump, there isn't much in common between the Honda and the various old 2-strokes.

There are pictures of my Yamaha with the lower unit off and the water pump exposed. To get the lower unit off on my engine, you need to loosen the four bolts visible on the exterior, as well as uncouple (by loosening the nut) the shift rod running down the leading edge of the lower unit. Then the lower unit just pulls down and off.
In the photos, you can see the lower half of the water pump housing (the thing that the bottom of the drive shaft is going into). The upper half of the water pump housing, along with some gaskets and the impeller, are disassembled by removing four bolts and a screw and then sliding the pieces up and off of the top of the drive shaft. The kit that includs a new impeller and seals cost about $36.00.
