This forum can have the "Prompt" feature as the default for URL posting. How do the members feel about this? Who would like this feature to become the default setting?

Hi Frank, I am not sure what it is so I will rely on the knowledge of others. Cheers.

I like it, however first - I couldn't find it as an option in the default set-up. and Second, people will still have to rename the url's to something short, or it won't help the page scrolling issue.

Yes! Along with whatever it takes for our users to understand how to post links with identifying text which is either short, or lends itself to graceful word wrapping.

In [Prompt] mode, where the user is asked to supply text describing the link, can that be set to default to something like "<u>see link</u>" or "<u>click here for details</u>"? As it is now, I think it defaults to the URL, which I think puts us back where we started. I'm I understanding this right?

Once that's settled, we can work on learning to provide access to large images through the use of links and thumbnails.

I did not know it defaulted to anything, I thought you had to put something in the dialog. I have never simply left it blank.

Yes, I think it actually says on it that if you leave it blank the link itself will show.

I looked again in the admin section to set the prompt as the format mode. I'll have to go to snitz sometime tomorrow evening to see if I can find it.

It might be a feature of the newer version that Arlyn has suggested we upgrade to. (Did I just end a sentence with a preposition?)

Be warned....if you upgrade, I may kiss you on the cheek.

I've always felt that a prompt default would be better.

URL's aren't making me scroll (well, ok, some do), the menu at the upper left corner pushes the whole block of threads to the right, leaving 2 1/4" of white space down the left side of the screen. Seems like tabs across the top would be a better arrangement for this forum format.

Without doubt the sidebar menu leaves a lot of space in the forum.
However there are some uses that could be made of that space.

<ul><li>Place some proment 'ads'(affiliate links) </li><li>Links to currently important pages(voting etc) </li><li>Important notices </li></ul>
Note, Using that space with some of the listed items above would result in them appearing on every page where the menu is shown.

2 and 3 might be viable, however the association decided a long time ago to keep the forum area free from advertisement. This includes our affiliate programs
