I finally got fed up with my dirty, rotten brown plaid cushions and called Catalina and got the scoop on ordering new cushions. Chris (in Parts) was great and said 'just send us the old cushion covers and the new ones will be done in 10 working days'. Wow! So I said the heck with it and did it. 9 days later the new cushions were done. I drove down to Woodland Hills CA to pick them up - AND to take a free factory tour (they give tours every Thursday at 4pm). If you are in So. Cal. I highly recommend the tour. It was 1 1/2 hrs and Ed, who gave the tour, did a great job. There were several dozen boats in all stages of production so we got to go through the whole plant and see the whole process. At the end we met Sharon (co-owner and VP of Sales) and Frank Butler (you know who he is!). We chatted with them for a while - they were very nice. They weren't giving out free boats though :)
Anyway, for those interested, here are some pics of the new Catalina cushions. After putting these in it feels (to me) like a new boat!!
More pics can be found at the link in my profile (I got a little carried away :)).

Those look great, Bill! They look like suede--is that a micro-fiber fabric or something of the sort? I agree, there are few things we can do to these boats that make them nicer (unless you never go below)! Care to share what they set you back? (My 12 cushions for a dinette interior were just about 20 boat units--including Sunbrella upholstery fabric, thicker foam for the seat bottoms and berths, and a fiber mat on top of the foam.) It made the boat for my dear, late Admiral.
Hey thanks Dave!! I wish I had pictures of the old cushions (they were **not** very attractive). Man, what a difference. All the pictures in these forums show that new cushions of any type are a huge improvement over the 80's brown plaid. As someone said in one of the the recent 'new cushions' threads 'the sticker shock' is something to consider but they sure do change the whole feeling of the boat. My very considerate better half said 'go for it' so I did.
The Catalina Direct and Catalina factory quotes were the same - $1215.00 for all nine cushions. CD quoted 8-10 **weeks** and the Catalina factory quoted 10 **days**. The fabric is new for Catalina - it's like a type of velour but is called chenille, I think. They did everything including replacing the foam. I am very impressed with Catalina ... they do take care of us.
Those look really nice Bill. The cushions on my boat are only one year old and set the PO back $1,306.00 at a local shop. So that seems inline with Cat. I like the looks of your better though. They look velvety. Cheers.

1 Boat Unit = $100.00
When buying stuff for the boat, saying 5 boat units is psychologically more pallatable than saying $500.00.
