Will a Humminbird MAX 15 depth/fishfinder power up with a 12 volt mortorcycle battery, or does it only work with a Group 24 marine battery Thanks.

Any 12VDC battery should work, including 12V motorcycle batteries. The only difference will be how long you can run it before the battery goes dead. Also motorcycle batteries are not deep-cycle so running them dead will severley reduce their life span.

When used in conjunction with a motorcyle battery, the depth/fishfisher will only give you the depth from the motorcyle's frame to the pavement.

Ha, ha.
How 'bout a rechargable bike battery; one I can hook up to my Group 24 trickle charger?
I'm only interested in the unit for those rather rare times when I have to drop the hook in relatively shallow water. Fishees I could care less about. In other woids, I've got me a relatively cheap (82 bucks) depth finder.

Frank,
As long as the battery is made to be decharged and recharged you should be okay. 12VDC is 12VDC regardless of its source. You could even run it off a pod of 10 nicad's. I'm curious though why you don't just install a cigarette lighter plug, or similar outlet, and use your inboard battery? If you are only going to use it in very rare circumstances the current drain should be negligible.
