The head of the Cruising Direct division of North Sails just called me; They will be donating a 110 Jib for our raffle.

That's a better than 1 in 20 chance of getting a headsail...

Will that be for a tall rig or a standard
or will there be a choice?

Good Questions Charlie - I know the one sail I am getting from Ullman is a storm jib, so it should be good with either. I will have to check with Dan at Cruising Direct. Maybe he'll just send a gift certificate.

Wow... those are some great give away's. Great work Duane. Wish I could make it, but I have prior plans. Maybe next time when the Nationals come East, hopefully South East.

Here's the rest of the list

Ullman Sails Ventura has committed to a storm jib for the overall winner.

Cruising direct has donated a 110 jib for the raffle

Catalina Direct has donated a set of shrouds and a forestay for the raffle

Mauri Pro Sailing has tentatively said yes to a boom kicker or rigid boom vang (not sure which yet) and is going to give a cash donation for a number of items in exchange for bow advertising.

A number of members, past and present have donated services such as printing for a program, and also cash for the welcome banner and any other over-runs.

Another member is working on getting a new portable welder donated for the raffle.

Freeman Eckley yacht sales has donated our Trophies

Chris at Online outboards has paid for award flags

Waterlox is giving us a few quarts of the Marine sealant for the raffle

Company Casuals is giving us a few hats plus a discount on additional ones for our winners

All of the other major lofts have committed to some thing or another and the local lofts have offered up overnight repair services at a discounted rate. Hopefully that is one service we won’t need.

APS, Layline and probably Sailnet have gift certificates for our raffle

Greg Koski of Doyle Sails has tentatively committed to giving a tuning and lake erie sailing presentation on Thursday afternoon before the first race. He would have liked to actually race with someone, but his competitor classification excludes him based on our class rules.

I also have a ton of other items and knickknacks from a ton different people. Many of these guys race too and will be at the regatta. A big thank you from you guys really goes a long way helping future events too.

Gosh! You are doing a GREAT job getting some great contributions, Duane.

We had a lot of boats in 2004 in Portland (22 entries...1 had to go home due to a death in the family), but we did NOT get prize and raffles like this! Congrats and good JOB!!!!!! I beat on doors alright, but you are really coming through with some NICE sounding donations......

Will be for a standard, but fully swappable if won by a tall rigger, same with the rigging from catalina direct

Gary,

I have a few things in my favor, relationships forged by you and Frank being one of them. Knowing a few people over the years helps too. 4 lofts within 60 miles ; Local catalina dealer, club known for major regattas, a coinciding event with over 40 boats (probably more like 60) all are working in my favor.

I also got an early start.
