I kept looking for parts such as winches, clutches, rudders, anchors, etc from boats destroyed in last year's hurricanes. Specifically, I'm looking for a couple of winches and gear to run all my lines to the cockpit. However, I didn't really see much on ebay. Did I miss something, or just not looking in the right place? I would have thought that a really enterprising individual could have got the boats for a song and stripped them out and made a good bit of crinkle.

Steve I was thinking the same thing. I too, have been searching for another set of winches on ebay and the pickings have been slim.

I think a lot of the hurricane damaged boats are tied up in legal limbo. (While the ones in the water, or with water in them, rapidly deteriorate.) I've heard the authorities are very actively discouraging opportunistic scavanging.

I've seen a lot of boats listed, not a lot of boat parts. Maybe the storms did more damage to the land than the water?

I've visited a few of them. Almost all with a significant portion above water have prominant "No Trespassing By Order Of ______!" signs on them. The ones readily accessable from shore have all been vandalized, but few goodies have been salvaged off any of them. I have several photos of the wrecks if anyone is interested, but I suspect the majority of us would just find them frustrating and depressing.
