The bow eye access or the forestay tang access? On my old '85/'86 model, the V-berth cubby hole provides access to the forestay tang. The bow eye is accessed through the V-berth storage bilge.
On some models that I've seen the V-berth cubby hole is open to the V-berth storage bilge, on others it isn't, and on still others (of the it isn't variety) it is only because a PO drilled it out. The '85/'86 model is not open to the V-berth storage bilge, unless it has been modified by a PO.

J.B.,
Hmmmm?...I believe on my '80, they are one in the same. Although it's been at least 4 years since I poked my head in the cubby hole just above the foot of the V-berth, I think that is where I did my bow eye work. Anyway, the spot I'm referring to is the one above the cushions at the foot of the V-berth with an access panel that has an anchor cut into it.
From your response it sounds like its a definite "maybe" as to the cubby being open to the under V-berth storage space. I may open the boat up this weekend, so one way or another, I'll get my answer.
Don, the area does drain to a bildge, the bow area. The bulkhead that forms the front base of your v-berth will contain the water until you have a serious amount and by then it will probably breach the opening for the forward through hull and begin to sneak around the hull to the area under the hanging locker, from there it will make it to the bildge proper. My anchor locker drain leaked, rotted the bow eye teak backing ran on down and was held by the v-berth bulkhead.

Frank,...Do you know how big the opening is between the cubby and the V-berth bilge?
The reason for all this is, I'm drawing up my design for a ventilation system and I would like to use the cubby hole access as the intake for the cabin.
Thanks J.B. Don, I should have added that if you drill a hole in the deck just aft of the bow eye block pictured, it will go to the V berth compartment.
I found the handhold in a closeout store. It was for 3/4" material so I had to slice it down the center on the bandsaw, then run both halves through the planer until it fit the 1/2" stock. Then I glued it back together. The original outside corner was damaged so I had to do something anyway. I thought this was a nice solution.
