I've been unable to find replacement for two 3/4" long 10/24 stainless carriage bolts that go thru a short steel strap which clamps the cable end to the side of the keel winch drum. Also, I wonder if the cable should be fastened to the inside of the drum or fed out thru a hole in the side of the drum to be clamped on the outside. I believe one of the bolts broke & the other was deformed because the clamp was inside the drum & would catch on the cable as it's wound up. It gave a frightful bang & scare when the cable gave way & the keel hit bottom. It appears no harm was done, but it's an experience we'd rather not repeat.

I always thought the clamp or the tail in the drum would conflict with the cable when operating the winch-mine are both outside.I like Bolt Depot for fasteners.
Bitter end of cable and clamp go outside winch drum. That's what the sort of angled cable-sized hole in the flange of the drum is for. I've not seen the clamp or little carriage bolts available in stainless steel, but it would be nice if they were.
