I'm installing a new head in Swimmer whereas she previously had only a porti potti, thus I need to run a vent line (as well as the pump out). Where is the vent routed to on your boat?
On tako kichi is was on the portside weather deck near the shrouds. On the new boat there is none since the Lectrasan doesn't have a tank. I'm skeptical...
Now this is from memory, but I believe my vent is located an inch or so inboard of the pumpout fitting on the port sidedeck just forward of the upper shroud chainplate.
If I were running a new vent, I might choose a location just under the rubrail instead of up on deck. One time while sailing in rather brisk conditions with a somewhat full holding tank, the angle of heel was such to cause the side deck to turn blue from the deodorant tinted effluent pouring from the vent.
That's where my tank vent is also, just forward of the chainplate. DO NOT put the vent through the deck. Noone makes a vent that will work in a deck as thick as ours. The vent is supposed to go through the cabin side. It is supposed to be thinner there but our boats have cored cabin sides and that may also be too thick. I haven't come up with a solution as yet. I drilled a hole on the starboard side for the fresh water tank vent to match the one Catalina drilled on the port side for the waste water tank, and now I have two holes through the deck and no vent to fit either of them. The vent Catalina put in the deck had the nut screwed on by 1/2 a thread. Unacceptable. I did however, find these ventsfrom Forespar and I might use these.

My primary head vent is located just above my chin with two smaller secondaries just below my eyes!

With a pressure release valve 3.5 feet down on the inverse side
