Does anyone have a source for flexible solar panels? WM has apparently stopped carrying them.

John,

Rcmd do a search on "Unisolar" in Yahoo and you will find many sources. I bought a rigid panel from Northern Arizona Wind and Sun, They list the panels that they presently have in stock. The list changes frequently because there are shortages that occur from time to time. Right now, believe they only have a 64 watt Unisolar which will be a very long panel. Flexible panels are genrrally larger in square inches compared to rigids for same wattage. The Arizona site is one of many with a lot of info on solar panels. Other suppliers probably have more stock of the Unisolars as they are one of the most popular flexible panel mfrs.

One caution: be leary of buying na panel from a home type business. Sometimes you can get an inkling as to the size of the distributer from looking at their websites and depts. Some of the home type businesses may advertize they have panels but reality is that they may only try to acquire it after you place the order. When I bought my panel last fall, there was a shortage of panels in the USA. had something to do with following factors: many panels made outside of the USA and exchange rates play a role; Europe was offering tax incentives and so many people were buying panels; China - All you need is a small percentage wanting panels and then there is a shortage.

i believe Unisolar is a US manufacturer but many solar panel mfrs originate from Argentina, Germany, etc.
here's the Arizona website:

My website details my rigid panel hookup.

Thanks for the info. I am specifically looking for flexible panels, hopefully that can just lie on the deck when the boat is on the trailer.

John - Brunton industries (www.brunton.com) offers
flexible panels. They have a 26 watt l.7amp (Max)
unit that is 21.5" X 37.5" & folds up to approx.
6" x 12" package. Controller is $30.00 I think.

Good luck - John Wood
