I raised my mast in the backyard just to make sure everything is going to work come launch day. All went well except that the fore and aft stays are aweful tight. I had to back off the turn- buckles to a point where there is really no way to loosen them any more. Should I add a "spacer of some sort to get some slack???
You might want some slack. Do you have a split back stay ? If not you might be able to find a turnbuckle body that is slightly longer than one of the ones you have now. 1" would make the diference.
Thanks guys, I guess what bothers me most is connecting the last stay once the mast is up. It's a REAL pain to get the pin in the turnbuckle. It usually means much grunting and swearing...and that's just from the wife. I guess I'll try to find longer turnbuckles.
Tim - you can buy extenders. WM probably has them. I had to add them to "This Side Up" a few years back as the turnbuckles were barely connecting and I was concerned about one coming undone... Derek
