I'll admit, I'm not great at keeping the boat clean.

At the end of last season, I did not wash or wax the boat when it came out of the water. The brown Hudson River sludge is pretty gross. After washing the topsides with soap and water this spring, there's still a ring of brown around the waterline. What can I use to get rid of it and not harm the gel coat?

West Marine and other chandleries use and recommend ON&OFF...I've used it for years and it works well with no unwanted side effects.

I'll second the toilet bowl cleaner recommendation. Brush some of the cleaner on, wait a few minutes to let it work its magic, then wipe/rinse it off. I sometimes use a scrubby sponge with the toilet bowl cleaner on the more stubborn stains.

Remember to keep this stuff away from aluminum and other metals as it may discolor it.

On&Off worked wonders. Thanks all for the tip. Next season I will try tidy bowl and compare.
