There must be a reason it was on the bottom. Looks like the topping lift has to be strong and if the halyard is used it would be pulled at an angle which chafe it at the mast head. Daughter gave me a broach preventer. Has anyone had to use one?
Hi Frank, a friend of mine bought one and said the only problem is that when the boat heels to the side with the stabelizer and they rocks back, if the weight has not pulled it all the way down to the end of its line, you will experience a loud chunk when the line tightens. When the line tightens, it slows down the motion so that is good. I just got up so if this does not make sense, my apologies. Cheers.
Big question: why would a manufacturer of barbeque grills have a stabilizer in their product line? Simple: stabilize the boat so the stuff on the barbee doesn't slide off into the drink Flopper Stoppers are much cheaper, too.
I use 3 of those orange cones on each side plus a 8 lb mushroom anchor. Will cut 30 degrees of rolling to 10. Will cut 15 degrees of rolling to 0. Hang one set off the spinnaker pole and the other just off the cockpit winch.
